PRESS STATEMENT
Peace Must Prevail in Boki: My Appeal to Boje and Eso Bendeghe Communities
It is with a heavy heart that I received reports of the renewed communal clash between the Boje and Eso Bendeghe communities in Boki Local Government Area. This unfortunate incident, rooted in a long-standing land dispute, has once again led to the loss of lives and left many others injured.
I extend my deepest condolences to the families of those who have lost their lives and my sincere sympathies to all who have been affected by this needless conflict.
I want to strongly appeal to all parties involved to sheath their swords and allow peace to reign. Violence cannot and will never be the answer. The consequences of communal conflict are devastating not only to those directly involved, but to the future of our children, our communities, and our socio economic development.
As your representative in the National Assembly, I am deeply concerned about the growing tensions and the continued loss of lives. No land is worth the life of any individual. We must understand that when lives are taken, they cannot be restored, even when the dispute is eventually resolved.
I urge community leaders, youth groups, elders, and traditional rulers in Boje and Eso Bendeghe to step forward as peacemakers. Dialogue, understanding, and reconciliation must take precedence over anger and aggression. I am committed to supporting every genuine effort aimed at peace building and lasting reconciliation in the area.
Let us reflect on the kind of legacy we want to leave behind: one of destruction or one of unity and development. We must choose peace.
