Strategic Oversight Visit of Senate Committee on Marine Transport to Rivers Ports
As part of my legislative responsibilities, I had the privilege of joining my distinguished colleague, Senator Wasiu Sanni Eshilokun, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Marine Transport, and other members of the Committee on an important oversight visit to the Rivers Ports in Port Harcourt.
The visit offered us the opportunity to assess the current state of infrastructure, evaluate operational efficiency, and engage with key stakeholders including the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and other relevant agencies.
This exercise is a direct follow-up to the Senate’s approval of the national budget, and it is crucial in ensuring that funds allocated to our ports are being effectively utilized.
Our ports are critical to Nigeria’s economic growth and diversification. With the right investment, policies, and oversight, they can become globally competitive hubs that drive trade, create jobs, and boost national revenue.
